Is that old wives' tale true? (Plus six degrees of Kevin Bacon)

Some are, some aren't, and some have a bit of truth in them. Give Claude the saying and it works it like a case: where it started, who spread it, how it changed, and a verdict of True, False or "There's something to it." Then it links the tale to Kevin Bacon, or anything you pick, in six real steps or fewer.

Be my private investigator. Here's something I've heard my whole life: [the rumor, old wives' tale, or "everybody knows" thing, like "wait 30 minutes after eating before you swim"]. Work it like a case: where it started, who spread it, how it changed along the way, and whether it's true. Give me a verdict: True, False, or "There's something to it." Then play Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon with it: connect where this rumor started to [anything: Kevin Bacon, my hometown, Lite-Brite] in six steps or fewer. Every step has to be real. Cite your sources.

What to expect

A verdict first, then a chain of six links or fewer. Keep it to tales and sayings, not rumors about people you know. Click a source or two before you trust it. If one doesn't open, ask Claude to search the web for it again and give you the link.
